Make consistent progress without feeling burnt out
We’ve all been there—juggling a million tasks at once, feeling like no matter how hard we try, there’s always something more to do. As busy mums, finding focus amidst the chaos can feel impossible. But what if I told you there’s a way to break free from that overwhelm and actually start getting things done?
Let me share a quick personal story.
Right now, I’m wearing a few hats—juggling multiple work projects while also trying to tackle a handful of home projects. They all crept up on me, and before I knew it, I hit a wall of total overwhelm. I had a moment of paralysis, feeling like I couldn’t move forward because the list was just too long.
Sound familiar?
It happens to us all, but here’s the thing—we don’t have to stay in that moment. We don’t have to feel like we’re endlessly crossing things off the list, only to add double the amount, and find ourselves stuck on that constant hamster wheel. There is a path forward.
Today, I want to share a powerful strategy that helped me get back on track—a strategy straight from my upcoming course, "The Productivity Blueprint: Focus for Busy Mums."
☞ Quick Tip: The Power of Breaking Down Tasks
When you’re faced with a big task, it’s easy to feel paralysed by its sheer size. The key to overcoming this? Break it down into smaller, more manageable steps. Here’s how:
Identify the Main Task: Start by defining what exactly you need to accomplish. For example, "Organise the kids' room."
Break It Down: Divide this task into mini-steps. Instead of trying to tackle it all at once, break it down like this:
Declutter toys
Sort clothes
Clean and organise the space
Prioritise and Schedule: Decide which mini-step you’ll tackle first. Maybe today, it’s just sorting the toys. Tomorrow, you’ll handle the clothes. By taking it step by step, you’ll find that what once seemed overwhelming becomes achievable.
This method not only helps you get started but also keeps you focused and motivated as you see progress with each step.
